The partnership between the PMI Educational Foundation (PMIEF) and Special Olympics International (SOI) strengthens SOI’s PM capacity and established the organization’s Project Management Center of Excellence (PMCOE). Today, a project management approach and PMCOE playbook help SOI achieve global impact. “Projectizing” operations – including engaging cross-functional teams in a three-year PM learning and application initiative – enhances SOI’s delivery of their strategic initiatives that promote inclusivity toward individuals with intellectual disabilities. Furthermore, project management has helped the nonprofit strategically pivot to meet the unexpected challenges of COVID-19. At the conclusion of this session, participants will be able to identify ways in which nonprofits practically apply project management knowledge and skills to their operations to achieve their social good mission, especially on behalf of youth.
